Spring Cleaning: Top 30 Tips and Tricks!
In honor of spring cleaning & the big purge that comes every year around this time, I’ve collected my all-time favorite cleaning tips for you! These are fantabulous, and range from the best uses for my three favorite cleaning products to common sense tips that give you new ways to use stuff you already have. Now, lets get to it!
My Top 30 Household Tips & Tricks
Dryer Sheets – Not just for drying, anymore!:
30. Using a dryer sheet to dust repels future dust/pet hair/etc. This works great for baseboards.
29. Gunky iron? Set it on the lowest heat setting, and run it over a dryer sheet. Gunk be gone!
28. Scrub shower doors with a dryer sheet to get rid of that nasty soap scum.
27. Soak a dryer sheet in a dirty pan, you know, the kind you are NOT looking forward to cleaning. let it
soak overnight, and in the morning use the dryer sheet to scrub the pan. You’ll be doing a lot less work than you would have the night before!
26. Stick a dryer sheet in your back pocket to keep the mosquitos away!
Vinegar, Old Buddy, Old Pal:
25. Crayon marks on your clothes? Vinegar will get ’em out.
24. Water marks or scratches on wood furniture? Vinegar is your new BFF.
23. Slimy bathtub toys? Soak them in vinegar overnight for a baby-safe and totally effective cleaning solution.
22. Time to clean your coffee pot? Run a pot of vinegar and water. Yum, yum! Oh wait, make sure to rinse with water a few times after that. 🙂
21. Grimy shower head? Fill a baggie with vinegar, and add a sprinkle of baking soda. Tie the baggy around your shower head and let it soak overnight. Remove in the morning and you’ve got a clean shower head! No scrubbing necessary.
I {Heart} Baking Soda:
20. Mix 1/4 cup plus enough water to make a paste, and cover the inside of your oven door with it. Let set for 30 minutes, then wipe off and voila! Clean oven, no scrubbing.
19. Add a teaspoon to the water in your vase, and keep cut flowers fresh for much longer!
18. Pour a cup into your toilet, leave it for an hour, then come back and flush. Again, all clean, no scrubbing!
17. Make a baking soda/peroxide paste to make baking sheets, stainless steel pans, and kitchen utensils look like new!
16. Diaper Rash? Hemorrhoids? Chicken Pox? Pour a few tablespoons into a bath to soothe the suffering party.
Just Plain Good Sense
15. Stop buying shaving gel. Use conditioner – works great and actually moisturizes better!!
14. Water stains on your chrome? Cut a lemon in half, scrub with the lemon, and rinse. All better!
13. Use the other half of the lemon to clean your cutting boards. Scrub and let set for 20 minutes before rinsing.
12. Lemons also work to whiten dingy socks. Just drop some lemon slices in boiling water, and throw in your socks.
11. Line a bowl with aluminum foil, pour grease in. Wait till it hardens, and then roll up the foil and toss is away! No mess. 🙂
10. Place a wooden spoon over a pot of boiling water to keep it from boiling over.
9. Lipstick or ink stain on your clothes? Spray it with hairspray before you wash, and it will come right out.
8. Stick a coaster underneath those sticky pantry jars to keep your shelves clean.
7. Wash your windows with newspaper. Cheap, easy, disposable, and streak-free.
6. Make your own ice packs by filling a Ziploc with dishwashing soap and freezing it.
5. Stop buying steel wool scrubbers. Clean out glass pans with a ball of aluminum foil.
4. Store your sheet sets in a pillow case. Keeps everything together and well organized!
3. Don’t buy an expensive bedskirt. Instead, pick up an extra fitted sheet to cover your box spring.
2. Repurpose your empty ketchup bottle as a pancake batter dispenser. Just make sure you wash it first. 🙂
And finally, the best cleaning tip ever…
1. Spent the day blogging? Spray some lemon oil right by the door just before your hubby comes home. He’ll think you’ve been cleaning for hours.

I completely agree that good old vinegar and baking soda are the key to all cleaning issues. They taught it to us in 8th grade and they should teach it to us again!
