  1. I stumbled upon this is my inbox and I am so glad I did. We were just talking about how God is sovereign in our lives and in struggles we need to trust Him and we can . struggles remind us we need to turn to Him first. We have been studying Romans in Bible study .. I can totally identify with you in your response ..That would be me too in a moment of panic .. But that is so true we must trust in HIM first . I like your idea of praying for the trust, that is getting to the root of the problem. It is in these moments that God is asking us to come to Him … and what do we do?? .. freak out first .. haha.. we are a work in progress, still learning. I am so glad He is a patient teacher. Thank you so much for sharing your story. Reminds me of Philippians 4:6-7 “Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God . which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. “

  2. Elizabeth says:

Substituting trust for fear..quite profound thought. Thank you Kayse for your struggle and your wisdom.

  3. Thank you so much for this post! I have struggled with loosing my best friends for almost two years now. I have been so sad and beside myself with grief. Not knowing why they chose to leave is the hardest part. However, this is very helpful to me. TRUST. That’s always a hard thing. As is letting go……and letting God……Thank you for taking the time to write. You are very down to earth and more help than you know to so many! You are very blessed.

    1. Hi Meg, it is so hard when people leave us isn’t it ..I want to love and be loved by all ..but it so hurts when they reject us … I am struggling with that too. When it bothers me or I start dwelling on it too much. I ask God to take it away and for understanding to accept it ..opening my Bible and reading the scriptures helps. They say God sees the bigger picture and sees more than we do …maybe their part in our story is over .. but I understand how you feel .. I still fight that too ..Keep praying.

  4. I needed this today. Last week, my daughter was in a car accident that could have been far worse than what it was, but ended up with a broken arm instead. Since then, my anxiety has come roaring back and everything seems so overwhelming and scary as I remember that I do not have as much control as I think I do. Reading that excerpt from Paul David Tripp is exactly what I needed this morning.

    1. I’m so sorry about the car accident! How scary! I can totally understand where you’re coming from now. Praying for peace for you!

  5. Thank you for being YOU!!!
Had several of these same experiences numerous times!!! Yes, I think you hit the nail on the head…TRUST & FEAR!! It’s something I constantly struggle with… like pretty much everyone(?) a work in progress 24/7…
luv your blog & your openness

  6. Today has been a MAJORLY challenging and ‘grumpy’ day for me so far – and it’s only 10:00am here. ? I needed this reminder – THANK YOU, Kayse!

  7. I think we went on similar vacations at possibly the same time. And I found myself trying to figure out why I turned into grumpy mom on vacation. I hadn’t considered fear, but I think you hit the nail on the head. Thanks for sharing!

  8. I also am afraid of heights. Our family visited Mesa Verde—and yes, I did climb the 30 foot ladder and hope like crazy that the fencing and chains on the awful stairs out would hold…it’s good to hear that I’m not the only mom losing it when my kids approach the edge (and holler, “Hey, Mom, look down, why don’t you?”). Thank you for the encouraging words and the reminder that God is in control.

  9. That was a beautiful post. It speaks to me and also pinpoints exactly what my mom is going through and how she has gone through most of her life. She just spent a week in the hospital and is now in rehab. I need to remember that whenever she lashes out, refuses to do something or puts up the million roadblocks when she doesn’t want to do something, 9 times out of 10 it is because she is afraid.

This really helped me this morning – and I didn’t know I needed it! God works in mysterious ways.

    Ann

  10. This is so true. I tend to react similarly in stressful situations, and I know that most of the time, fear is the culprit.
